The Baranovichi Local History Museum (Краязнаўчы музей) covers the full arc of the city's existence — from its origins as a simple rural crossing point to the rapid growth triggered by the imperial Russian railway construction in the 1870s. Exhibits trace the development of the rail junction, the changes brought by Soviet industrialisation, and the devastating impact of the Second World War, during which the city was almost entirely destroyed. The collection includes period photographs, railway artefacts, and documents from both the tsarist and Soviet eras.
The museum is compact and easy to visit in an hour. Staff are local and genuinely knowledgeable; a few speak basic English, though Russian or Belarusian will open more doors. It occupies a central building not far from the main administrative area of the city.
