Bruges has a serious beer culture. The city has its own beers — Brugse Zot from the Halve Maan brewery and the stronger Straffe Hendrik — and a network of specialist beer bars that stock hundreds of Belgian ales. The best bars are concentrated in the streets around the Markt and in the Sint-Anna quarter; avoid the obvious tourist pubs on the main squares, which charge elevated prices for indifferent service.
