La Plage is a reliable seafront brasserie with a straightforward menu built around the catch. The grey shrimps (grijze garnalen) served here are the real Belgian article — tiny, sweet, hand-peeled, and piled generously. The grilled sole is also good. The location on the esplanade means the terrace has sea views and the wind when the weather comes in from the Atlantic.
Service is brisk and portions are large. It is not the most refined restaurant on the coast but it is honest and consistent, and it fills up quickly on summer weekends. Book ahead for terrace tables in July and August.
