Cathedral of Saint Bonaventure

The Cathedral of Saint Bonaventure is the Roman Catholic cathedral of Banja Luka and one of four Catholic cathedrals in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Built in the early 20th century, it is a Gothic Revival building in terracotta brick, rising above the surrounding streets with a single slender tower. The interior is quietly dignified, with stained glass and carved woodwork.

The cathedral serves the small but historically present Catholic community in a city that was predominantly Orthodox and Muslim before the 1990s war. It stands adjacent to the Bishop's Palace in a leafy precinct a few minutes' walk from the pedestrian centre, making it an easy addition to any walk through the old town.
