Archaeological Museum

The Regional Archaeological Museum in Burgas covers the area's history from prehistory through the Byzantine period, with particular strength in Thracian and Greek finds from the surrounding territory. Exhibits are well-labelled in English and the museum has undergone significant renovation in recent years. The collection includes jewellery, ceramics, weapons, and funerary objects from sites across the Burgas region. Admission is modest and it is worth at least an hour of your time.

A story
The Burgas region was densely settled in antiquity: Thracian tribes, then Greek colonists, then Romans all left traces in the coastal marshes and highlands. The museum's collection of Thracian goldwork and Greek ceramics from the Black Sea colonies is one of the more underappreciated in Bulgaria.
