Getting Around

The centre of Ruse is compact and walkable. The pedestrianised zone around Freedom Square and along Aleksandrovska Street is where most of the sights, cafes, and restaurants are clustered — you can cover the main attractions on foot in a morning.

City buses serve the wider residential areas and the train station, which is east of the centre. Taxis are inexpensive by Western European standards and readily available around Freedom Square; use metered cabs or agree on a price before getting in. For the Ivanovo Rock Monastery, the local bus from the main bus station is the easiest option if you don't have a car.
