The Regional Museum of History is Stara Zagora's main historical museum, with collections that explain a region settled for more than eight thousand years. Its strongest exhibits cover Neolithic culture, Roman Augusta Trajana, Thracian finds, and the long archaeological record of southeast Bulgaria.
It is a useful first stop before walking the city's Roman ruins and other archaeological sites, because it gives the larger story behind the fragments visible around the centre.
