Krastata Kazarma

The "Cross-shaped Barracks", a late-18th-century Ottoman military building laid out on a perfectly symmetrical Greek-cross plan. It is one of the few surviving Ottoman barracks of its kind in the Balkans, and the only one in Bulgaria. The Pasha of Vidin, Osman Pazvantoğlu, built it as part of his fortified compound.

The building now houses an ethnographic collection — folk costumes, household objects, and a particularly good display of period weapons — as part of Vidin's regional museum complex. It sits near the city centre, a few minutes from the synagogue and the Konaka Museum. A combined ticket from the museum covers several of the historic sites in town.
