Jastozera

Jastozera is one of the most celebrated seafood restaurants on the Dalmatian coast, occupying a former lobster tank cave built into the sea cliff at the southern end of Komiža harbour. The original function of the space was to keep live lobsters fresh before market — hence the name, which means lobster tank — and the cave's connection to the sea means the setting is unlike any other restaurant in Croatia.

The menu focuses on lobster and fresh fish, simply grilled or prepared alla busara (a Dalmatian tomato-and-wine sauce). Prices are high by Croatian standards but reasonable for what you get: genuinely exceptional seafood, a remarkable setting, and service that takes the food seriously. Book well ahead in July and August.
