The ruined fortress on the limestone hill above town is what gave Sinj its strategic weight under the Venetians and the Ottomans. Today it is partly restored: a circuit of walls, the remains of the Kamicak tower, and a broad terrace with sweeping views over the Cetina plain and the surrounding mountains.
It is a short, steep walk up from the centre, best at sunset when the light hits the Dinara range to the east. Information panels explain the 1715 siege, the event that the Sinjska Alka commemorates each August.
