Žminj sits roughly in the middle of Istria, which makes it a useful base for the inland villages and the west coast alike. Pazin, the regional capital with its dramatic chasm, is 15 km north. Rovinj and Poreč are 30–40 km west on the coast, and Pula with its Roman amphitheatre is 30 km south.
