Špindlerův Mlýn is in northeastern Bohemia, about 160 kilometres from Prague. By car it takes roughly two hours on the D11 motorway to Hradec Králové, then north through Vrchlabí into the mountains. The last section of road climbs steeply into the resort, which can be icy in winter — snow chains or winter tyres are advisable from November to March.
By public transport, the best connection is by bus or train to Vrchlabí (the nearest larger town, 12 kilometres away), then a connecting bus to Špindlerův Mlýn. Several direct buses from Prague also run in ski season. The journey from Prague takes around 2.5 to 3 hours.
Parking in the resort is limited and expensive in peak season. If you are staying in the centre, consider leaving the car in one of the outer car parks and walking or taking the internal shuttle.
