A small but absorbing volunteer-run museum a few minutes east of the central square, the Bogtrykmuseet preserves a complete provincial printing works from the early twentieth century. Linotype machines, cast-iron flatbed presses, drawer after drawer of metal type — much of it still in working order, and the volunteers who staff the museum demonstrate the larger pieces on request.
This is the sort of museum you visit because someone told you to, then come away talking about. The pace is slow, the workshop smells of ink and oil, and you can buy a hand-printed Christmas card or wedding announcement made on a press older than your grandparents. Opening hours are short — usually a few afternoons a week — so check before you go.
