Fredensborg is easiest by train on the local line between Hillerød and Helsingør. From Hillerød, the ride takes about fifteen minutes; from Helsingør, roughly half an hour. The station is a short walk from the palace gates.
From Copenhagen, take the S-train to Hillerød and change, or travel via the coast line and Helsingør. By car, Fredensborg is about 40 kilometres north of Copenhagen and pairs naturally with Hillerød, Helsingør, or the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk.
