Bygholm Manor

Bygholm Manor is a Baroque estate on the southwestern edge of Horsens, with origins going back to 1313 when King Eric VI Menved established Bygholm Castle here to control the surrounding territory. The current main building dates from 1775 — a symmetrical one-storey manor in warm yellow brick, flanked by lower service wings — and has been listed by the Danish Heritage Agency since 1984.

The manor operates today as the Scandic Bygholm Park hotel. The surrounding park is open to the public and is a pleasant place to walk, particularly in spring when the estate gardens are in bloom. The park connects to the Bygholm river valley, which offers easy cycling and walking paths through the East Jutland countryside. The estate also hosts Aarhus University's agricultural research centre in the farm buildings.
