Convent Ruin

Quiet remains of the Bridgettine convent that shaped early Maribo

The Convent Ruin is a modest but useful reminder of how Maribo began. The Catholic convent was founded in the 15th century with both monks and nuns, and it sat at the centre of the town's religious life before the Reformation changed its role.

Only fragments remain, so come for atmosphere rather than spectacle. It works best as a short stop around Maribo Cathedral, where the old abbey precinct still gives the town centre a calm, monastic feel.
