Klintholm Havn

Working fishing harbour with smokehouses, a short drive from the cliffs

Klintholm Havn is a small working harbour on the south coast, the closest village to Møns Klint and a useful lunch stop on a day at the cliffs. A handful of fishing boats still operate from here and the smokehouses on the harbour sell hot-smoked mackerel, herring and salmon by the kilo. There is a long jetty good for a stroll and a couple of simple seaside restaurants with terraces.

The harbour has expanded in recent years as a stopover for cruising yachts crossing the Baltic. Behind the village, a turbine field stretches out to sea — among the earliest offshore wind farms in Europe when it opened in 2003.
