Nakskov Fjord is one of the most scenic in Denmark — a sheltered inlet dotted with small islands and ending at the Albuen spit, a curved sandbar with a 19th-century lighthouse, white beaches, and exceptional birdlife. The only way to reach Albuen is the Postbåden, a small passenger ferry that runs from the town harbour. The trip takes around 30 minutes each way and passes through the outer islands; Albuen itself has no cars and no development beyond the lighthouse keeper's cottage. An essential half-day excursion from Nakskov.
