Café Backhaus

A reliable bakery-café on the corner of Torvet, with a long counter of dense Danish rye breads, pastries (the kanelsnurre — cinnamon swirl — is reliably excellent), and proper espresso. The dining room has a few wooden tables and a window onto the square; in summer there are tables on the cobbles.

It's the easiest place in Ribe for breakfast or a quick lunch. Closes around 5 p.m. most days.
