The Rødbyhavn terminal, 3 kilometres south of Rødby, is the Danish end of the Scandlines crossing to Puttgarden on Germany's Fehmarn island — up to 22 daily sailings and one of Europe's most-used short sea routes. The terminal is also the Danish anchor of the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link: an 18-kilometre immersed tunnel under construction beneath the strait, which will become the world's longest immersed tunnel when it opens in the late 2020s, connecting Denmark and Germany by both rail and road.
