Getting Around

Kihnu is seven kilometres long and three across. A single road loops around the coast and through the four villages of Lemsi, Linaküla, Rootsiküla, and Sääre, with a few connecting tracks across the middle.

Bicycle is the right way to get around. Rentals are available at the harbour and at most of the guesthouses; you can cover the whole island in a few hours. Walking works too — the road is quiet enough that traffic is rarely an issue. The handful of taxis on the island are usually run by farmers using converted tractors and motorbike sidecars, which are themselves part of the experience.
