Holy Trinity Church

The parish church at the north end of Pikk Street — a three-aisled Lutheran building with origins in the fifteenth century, though the present exterior is mostly the result of a heavy nineteenth-century rebuild after a fire. The plain limestone façade and small spire are unfussy; the inside contains a baroque altar from the 1730s and a wooden organ loft worth a look.

The churchyard is one of the quieter spots in town. The verger usually leaves the side door open during daylight hours; nothing is signposted in English, which is fine — five minutes inside is enough.
