Getting Around

The Old Town is small and entirely walkable — you will spend most of your sightseeing time on foot, on cobblestones, so bring decent shoes. Beyond the walls, an efficient network of trams, trolleybuses and buses covers the rest of the city from 6am to midnight; public transport is free for registered Tallinn residents and cheap for visitors if you buy a Smartcard at a kiosk. Taxis are plentiful and ride-hail apps (Bolt in particular, which was founded here) work well. Driving in the centre is rarely worth the hassle.
