The summer ferry to Mykines leaves from Sørvágur on Vágar and takes about 45 minutes in good conditions. It should be booked in advance, and same-day cancellations are common when the Atlantic swell rises.
Atlantic Airways also operates a limited helicopter service linking Mykines with the rest of the Faroe Islands. It is meant as public transport rather than sightseeing, so seats are few and visitors should not build a tight itinerary around it.
