Getting There

Hov is on the east coast of Suðuroy, the southernmost island of the Faroe Islands. It is connected by road to the other villages on the island — a tunnel opened in 2007 links Hov to Øravík to the north, replacing a longer route over the hills.

To reach Suðuroy from the main Faroe Islands, take the ferry from Tórshavn. The crossing to Tvøroyri, the main town on Suðuroy, takes around two hours and runs several times a day. From Tvøroyri, Hov is about 15 km by road along the east coast.

There is no airport on Suðuroy; helicopter services from Tórshavn formerly operated but are not reliable for general travellers. The ferry is the practical option.
