Battle of Kumlinge Monument

The Battle of Kumlinge Monument marks the site of a local action during the Finnish War on May 9, 1808. A group of farmers and fishermen, led by pastor Henrik Johan Gummerus, ambushed Russian troops here and forced their surrender.

The memorial stands on the hill where the locals used two cannons during the fighting. It is a short historical stop while exploring Kumlinge.
