Espoo is part of the Helsinki metro area and uses the same regional transport network (HSL). The Helsinki metro now extends out to Matinkylä, with stations at Tapiola, Aalto University, and Otaniemi — putting most of Espoo's tourist sights within fifteen to twenty minutes of central Helsinki. The commuter trains on lines E, U, and Y connect Helsinki Central to Leppävaara, Espoo Centre, Kauklahti, and other Espoo stations.
Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is 30 to 45 minutes from Espoo by bus 615 or the I/P commuter train via central Helsinki. There are no long-distance trains or buses serving Espoo separately — use Helsinki Central as the gateway.
