Espoo's attractions are spread out — the city is not somewhere you wander on foot from a central square. The five district centres each have their own character. Tapiola is the famous garden city and the cultural heart. Espoo Centre has the medieval cathedral. Otaniemi holds Aalto University and the WeeGee complex. The big draw outside the urban districts is Nuuksio National Park on the western edge — old forest, lakes, and a network of marked trails fifteen minutes from the metro.
A day card on the Helsinki regional transport (HSL) network covers Espoo and makes hopping between districts straightforward. Most of the cultural sites cluster around Tapiola and Otaniemi.
