Lappeenranta's restaurant scene is modest but competent, with a few good Finnish restaurants in the city centre and a seasonal cluster of harbour-side cafes and restaurants that open in summer. Finnish lake fish — perch, pike-perch, and vendace — appear on most menus, often pan-fried with butter and served simply. The city has a handful of international restaurants catering to the student population from LUT University.
