Bars and Cafes

Méribel's après-ski scene is lively and centred on the Rond-Point des Pistes at the base of the main ski area. Most bars open from around 4pm when the lifts close and run until midnight or later.

La Folie Douce at the top of the Pas du Lac gondola is the most famous spot in the entire Trois Vallées — a mountain restaurant and concert venue where DJs and live performers play from mid-afternoon as skiers arrive in ski boots for the party. It is an institution, and a crowded, heaving one: go at least once for the experience.

Le Rond-Point at the base of the slopes is a reliable choice for the classic afternoon vin chaud (mulled wine) or a Savoyard beer. The terrace fills up quickly after the lifts close.

Les Allues Bar in the original village of Les Allues (the old farming community below the resort) is a more local option — quieter, less expensive, and popular with resort workers.

Mountain cafes on the pistes serve the usual combination of hot chocolate, soupe de chalet, and tartiflette. On a cold day, stopping for a vin chaud on the Roc de Fer terrace at the top of the Saulire is one of the simple pleasures of Méribel skiing.
