The Sommet de la Saulire (2,738m) is the high point accessible by lift from Méribel, reached via the Burgin-Saulire gondola from the Chaudanne base area. It sits on the ridge dividing the Méribel and Courchevel valleys, and from the summit platform on a clear day the panorama is exceptional: the Vanoise massif to the south, Mont Blanc to the north, and the long ridgeline of the Trois Vallées network stretching in both directions.
In summer the gondola runs for walkers and mountain bikers — the views from the ridge are just as spectacular without snow, and the walking above the treeline on the ridgepaths is excellent. In winter, the summit is the departure point for some of Méribel's best off-piste skiing, including the steep couloirs dropping back toward Méribel-Mottaret.
Even if you are not a skier, riding the gondola to the Saulire summit is worthwhile for the views alone. The runs back down are mostly red — competent intermediate skiers can descend to the valley.
