Cascade du Rouget

Called the Queen of the Alps, the Cascade du Rouget is a two-stage waterfall inside the nature reserve, about forty minutes on foot from the village along a well-marked trail. The upper drop falls around 45 metres into a ledge pool before continuing to a lower section. In high season the path is busy but manageable; early morning or after 4pm it can feel entirely private. From the top of the falls a higher trail climbs on towards the Refuge Alfred Wills and eventually the Anterne plateau, making the cascade a natural midpoint on longer hikes rather than just a destination in itself.
