The Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval is the reason most people come, and it earns the visit. Beyond the cirque, the nature reserve opens up into a network of hiking trails that reach high alpine lakes, mountain refuges, and summit ridges. The medieval abbey in the village is surprisingly intact and worth an hour. In winter the same terrain becomes part of the Grand Massif ski area.
