The Musée des Vins d'Alsace explains the region's wine culture in the middle of Colmar's old town. Exhibits cover vineyard work, pressing, fermentation, barrel making, bottling, and the long history of Alsace wine.
An audio guide carries most of the visit, and there are interactive sections that make the museum easier going than a purely technical display. It is a useful first stop before driving or cycling the Route des Vins, especially if Alsace grape varieties are still a blur.
