Saint-Laon Church

Former abbey church tied to Thouars' medieval religious and civic history.

Saint-Laon began as an abbey church and still feels a little apart from the denser lanes around Saint-Medard. Its Romanesque fabric and later civic surroundings show how Thouars reused its medieval religious buildings rather than setting them aside as museum pieces.

It is worth including on the same circuit as the castle and ramparts, especially if you are interested in the deeper medieval layer of the town.
