The Croisette is Cannes's famous seafront boulevard — a two-kilometre sweep of palms, grand hotels, private beaches, and designer boutiques that curves along the bay between the Vieux Port and Port Canto. It is the place to see and be seen, especially during the film festival when the red carpet runs and cameras point at every passing face.
Outside festival season the Croisette is a pleasant promenade: wide enough for walking comfortably, lined with palm trees, with the sea on one side and the grand facades of the Carlton, Majestic, and Martinez hotels on the other. The private hotel beaches charge for access, but the public beaches between them are free. A morning walk from the Vieux Port to Port Canto and back gives you the full sweep — about 4 km — with coffee along the way.
