Cannes is ideally positioned for day trips along the Côte d'Azur. Nice is 30 minutes by train and worth a full day for its old town, market, and the Matisse and Chagall museums. Grasse, 18 km inland, is the perfume capital of the world — the Fragonard and Molinard houses offer factory tours. Mougins, 6 km north, is a medieval village with an exceptional concentration of good restaurants. Saint-Tropez is about 75 km along the coast, best reached by boat or early morning car.
The Lérins Islands (see Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat) are the most obvious nearby excursion — ferries leave from the Vieux Port and the crossing takes 15 minutes.
