A handsome 19th-century bastide on the southern edge of Marseille, built in the 1850s for Jean-Baptiste Pastré, president of the city's Chamber of Commerce. The building sits at 157 avenue Montredon, facing the sea, and now houses the Musée de la Faïence — Marseille's dedicated earthenware museum, which holds a significant collection of the tin-glazed pottery the city was once famous for producing. The grounds are worth a wander, with views across the Calanques coastline.
