A short walk from the château along the foot of the Causse Méjean brings you to the Source du Pêcher, where the Pêcher river emerges full-grown from the base of the limestone cliff. In spring it is a torrent; in dry summers a trickle. Either way the spot — pool, mossy rocks, plane trees — is the prettiest in town and the easiest first lesson in Causse hydrology: most of the water on the plateau disappears underground and resurges at springs like this one around the rim.
A footpath runs from the source up into the cliff above and onto the Causse.
