Azay-le-Rideau is 27 km southwest of Tours. By train, the town has its own stop on a branch line from Tours (about 30 minutes, a handful of departures per day); check the SNCF timetable before travelling as service is limited. By car it is an easy drive from Tours on the D751 along the Indre valley. The road passes through attractive farmland and several other small chateau towns, making a pleasant half-day loop possible.
From Paris, Azay-le-Rideau is about 2.5 hours by TGV to Tours and then onward by train or rental car.
