Azay-le-Rideau is a one-chateau town, and the chateau is the reason to come. Allow a couple of hours for the interiors and a walk around the island moat. In summer, the evening son et lumiere show transforms the facade into something theatrical. Beyond the chateau, the town is pleasant for a short walk and there are some worthwhile excursions into the surrounding countryside.
