La Creusille is the small working harbour on the south side of the Loire, a short walk east of the bridge. It moors a fleet of traditional Loire boats — flat-bottomed, square-sailed gabares and toues, the kind that carried wine and stone up and down this river for centuries.
The harbour association runs short summer cruises (about an hour) on a replica gabare, drifting downstream and being rowed back. Even when there are no boat trips running, the quay is a pleasant flat walk with riverside benches and almost no tourists — most of them stop on the upper-town side of the bridge.
