Orangerie du Château

Long-running fine-dining restaurant in the château's former orangery

Address 1 Avenue Jean-Laigret, Blois

The Orangerie du Château occupies the 15th-century orangery on the western edge of the château precinct — vaulted stone ceiling, big arched windows opening onto the gardens, and a tone of slightly hushed refinement. The kitchen has held a Michelin star for years and serves classical French food: Loire fish in cream sauces, game in season, a strong cheese trolley, and a long wine list with proper local representation.

It is the obvious special-occasion restaurant in town. Prices are high by Blois standards but not by Michelin standards. Sit in the garden in summer; book a week or two ahead, especially for the tasting menu.
