Eglise du Sacre-Coeur

The Sacre-Coeur church stands a short walk north of the town hall, a late nineteenth-century neo-Romanesque building in pale stone with twin square towers. It replaced an earlier church burned during the Vendée wars and is one of several Cholet churches that double as memorials to those events.

The interior is plain by Loire standards, but the stained glass — much of it twentieth-century — is unusually good, particularly the windows depicting the Vendée martyrs near the apse.
