Fontevraud is best reached by car. From Saumur the drive is about 15 kilometres south, taking around 20 minutes. From Chinon the drive east takes about 20 minutes. There is no train station in the village; the nearest stations are Saumur and Chinon, both served by regional TER trains from Tours.
A shuttle bus operates between Saumur and Fontevraud during the summer season, but schedules are limited — check locally before relying on it. Cycling from Saumur along the Loire à Vélo route is a pleasant option in good weather.
