Things to Do

Bar-le-Duc's main appeal is its upper town — one of the most intact Renaissance quarters in northeastern France. The sights are concentrated and walkable. Allow a half-day to explore the old streets properly, and save time for the church of Saint-Étienne, which contains one of the most unsettling sculptures in Europe.
