By rail. TGV trains from Paris Gare de l'Est run to the Meuse TGV station about 25 km south of Verdun in around 1h 15min; a connecting bus or taxi covers the last leg. Local trains from Metz (1h 30min) and Nancy (2h with change) reach the central Verdun station.
By road. The A4 motorway from Paris to Strasbourg passes just south of Verdun and is the fastest road approach — 2h 30min from Paris, 1h 30min from Reims. The N3/D1916 from Bar-le-Duc is the historic Voie Sacrée and a more atmospheric way in.
By air. The nearest international airports are Luxembourg (1h 15min by road), Metz-Nancy (45 min), and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (3h). For battlefield touring most visitors arrive by car.
