Alençon is served by its own railway station on the Paris–Le Mans–Rennes line. Trains from Paris Montparnasse take about two hours with a change at Le Mans. Direct trains from Caen take about an hour and a half. The station is a short walk from the town centre.
By car, Alençon sits on the N12/E50 between Paris (200km east) and Rennes (190km west), and on the N138 between Le Mans (50km south) and Rouen (130km north). It makes a natural stopping point on any cross-Normandy drive.
