Maison à l'Étal is a small architectural pleasure in the old centre of Alençon. Its timber framing and street-level proportions show the town at a more domestic scale than the basilica or the lace museum, and it rewards the kind of slow walk that notices corners and façades.
Do not treat it as a major destination on its own. It works best as part of a wander through central Alençon, where surviving old houses, church towers, and quiet streets help explain why the town feels older and more textured than its size suggests.
