Avenue Foch and the Perret District

UNESCO-listed post-war boulevard, 100m wide, heart of Perret's rebuilt city

The grand ceremonial axis of Perret's rebuilt city runs from the town hall west to the sea front — a boulevard 100 metres wide flanked by limestone-clad concrete buildings with the distinctive fluted columns that became Perret's signature. Walk it end to end in either direction to understand the scale of the reconstruction project. The town hall at the eastern end, with its 72-metre tower, anchors the composition; the sea front opens it up.

The entire Perret district — the central grid of boulevards and squares built between 1945 and 1964 — is UNESCO-listed as an outstanding example of post-war modernism. The tourist office on Place de l'Hôtel de Ville runs walking tours that explain the architectural logic in detail.
